Before that, she studied Pedagogical and Educational Sciences at Radboud University Nijmegen and Social Work at Avans University of Applied Sciences. In former years, she worked in child and family psychiatry and as an educationalist, she is specialized in philosophy of education. She introduced a relational approach in the field of family care, which is one of her main topics in her many lectures, articles and books.
